Brockville – Loaves & Fishes Brockville held their annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser this past Saturday, the first one in person since before COVID.
Close to 300 tickets were sold and $10,785 was raised for the event with more donations still to come in. The event raises funds for the low-cost restaurant, Loaves & Fishes in Brockville.
“It was a great day with a fantastic turnout! It felt like meeting up with an old friend and no time had passed” said Laurie Prichard, Manager of Loaves & Fishes Brockville.
The event sees local artists making bowls prior to the event and then on the day the bowls are sold for $30 including various soups made by local chefs.
There was also live music by Fiddlers Plus and Mark Bergman.
The hope is that each time the empty bowl is taken from your cupboard, it will serve as a reminder that someone else’s bowl was empty and that on this occasion, you helped Loaves & Fishes alleviate hunger in our community.
