Brockville – The Brockville Bunnies were in Ottawa on Saturday playing the Knights in CanAm League play. They won their first game 6 to 4 and lost their second game 9 to 1.

Jack Sloan gets a win in game one with Brady Barrie earning the save. The Bunnies hop out early in game one as Hunter Sanger connects for a 2-run homer top of first. Ottawa takes a 4-2 lead but the Bunnies rally with a 4-run seventh highlighted by a 2 out 2 run single by Rowan Hicks that gives the Bunnies the lead for good. Ryan Robinson had 3 hits with singles by Lucas Gravlin, Liam O’Brien and Cohen Gill.

The second game was close with it being 1-1 into the fifth inning as neither team could muster much offence, but Ottawa blows it open scoring 3 in the fifth and 5 in the sixth. Joe Barkley started on the mound and gave the Bunnies a quality start with Hicks and Sanger throwing in relief. Bunnies bats go silent managing only singles by O’Brien and Noah Deryaw.

On Sunday the Bunnies were in Montreal facing the Montreal Baseball Academy team. The Bunnies lost a pair of games to Montreal by scores of 5-2 and 11-3.

The common theme lately is the Bunnies hop out to a 1-0 lead then give up 3 right away to fall behind in game 1. Charlie Todd takes the loss with Brady Barrie throwing two scoreless innings in relief. Bunnies only manage 3 hits (all doubles) with hot-hitting Ryan Robinson with 2 and Noah Deryaw with the other.

Another common theme is the Bunnies struggling to keep second games close. An early error opens the door in the first and Montreal takes advantage by scoring 3 and the Bunnies never recover.

Lucas Gravlin, Cohen Gill and Hunter Sanger pitched. The Bunnies only gave up 7 hits, but 10 walks and 2 hit batters combined was too much to overcome for a Bunnies team that struggles to score runs. The Bunnies managed 6 hits in the second game, Gill(d,s) and Gravlin had two hits each with Todd(d) and Robinson one each.

The Brockville Bunnies finish up CanAm league play this weekend with doubleheaders in Malone New York on Saturday before hosting the Montreal Academy team at Fulford on Sunday.
