Leeds & Grenville – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Leeds and Grenville in collaboration with the Township of Leeds & The Thousand Islands Fire Services are offering The Future Firefighters in Training Program (FFIT) for youth ages 14 to 17.
The program is starting on Monday, October 16th from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm and continues each Monday until December 11th at Fire Station #1, 1233 Prince Street in Lansdowne.
The primary goal of the FFIT program is to increase connectedness, community engagement, volunteerism and employability for youth through mentoring, hands-on training and skill-building opportunities.
The program aims to instill in mentees a stronger commitment to learning and volunteerism and an increased curiosity in developing new skills with a particular focus on emergency first responders and careers related to this field.
