Toledo – Pastry King’s Princess was named the Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley 2023 Business of the Year at the Township’s Business Luncheon held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at the Toledo Legion.
Owner Ingrid Van Dusen accepted the award from Mayor Brant Burrow and
the Economic Development Committee Chair Earl Pollock. The Business of the
Year Award honours businesses that have demonstrated excellence in their
field, longevity, innovation, and involvement in their community.
Three businesses were nominated this year:
- King Arthur Wood Work Inc.
- Kitley Grocery & Service Centre
- Pastry King’s Princess
In acknowledgement of the accomplishments of the nominees, the Committee presented each in attendance with a certificate recognizing their excellence.
The luncheon featured guest speakers Jeanette Johnston, Small Business
Development Officer (United Counties of Leeds and Grenville) who spoke about various programs and support offered to small businesses through the Counties’ Small Business office located in Brockville; in addition to what is offered through the Small Business Advisory Centre located in Smiths Falls; which serves the northern portion of the Township.
Jeanette also touched on the current economic state and congratulated all three of this year’s nominees.
The Business of the Year award was created in 1994 to recognize the contribution of local businesses. This event marked the 28th Business Luncheon hosted by the Township and Economic Development Committee.
