One person in custody
North Grenville – The Grenville County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a homicide in Kemptville, in the Municipality of North Grenville.
On October 10, 2023, shortly after 1:30 p.m., officers attended a residence on County Road 19, in Kemptville, where they found a deceased person inside. The deceased has been identified as Corey GREENWOOD, 35 years of age, of North Grenville.
At around 4:30 p.m., police located and arrested a suspect, identified as Jamie QUESNEL, 27 years of age, of South Dundas. The accused was charged with second-degree murder, contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code, and was held for a bail hearing on October 11, at the Ontario Court of Justice.
While the investigation is in its early stages, police do not believe there is a risk to public safety, however, residents should expect to see an increased police presence in the area during this investigation.
This investigation is being conducted by the Grenville County OPP Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Centre of Forensic Sciences.
