Public Community Meeting to Be Held on The Project on November 2nd at the Toledo Fire Hall!

Toledo – Crystal Energy Storage LP of Toronto wants to develop a lithium-ion battery energy storage system in Elizabethtown-Kitley Township which would be connected to Hydro One’s existing transmission electrical infrastructure.

The proposed project is to be built between Knich Street and Leacock Road near Toledo. The project is to help with the increasing electricity needs in the province.

The proposed Project is a lithium-ion battery energy storage system connected to Hydro One Network Inc.’s existing transmission electrical infrastructure. The Project is proposed to have a Nameplate Capacity of up to 300 megawatts (“MW”) and will have a 4-hour duration capacity. The Project will consist of battery storage enclosures, inverters, medium voltage transformers, gravel internal access roads, electrical collector and communication cabling, and a small transmission transformer substation.

On Crystal Energy Storage’s website, they state, “We are committed to engaging with stakeholders throughout all phases of the Project, from early development to decommissioning.”

Stakeholders who they will be engaging with include but are not limited to:

  • Owners or occupants of properties located adjacent to the Project Site;
  • Municipal government stakeholders, including, the mayor and council, Chief Administrative Officer and the planning, building and public works departments;
  • Indigenous communities who may have an interest in the Project;
  • Provincial and Federal Government Ministries, including the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks and the Ontario Ministry of Energy;
  • Local Conservation Authority;
  • Industry groups;
  • Local businesses and Business Industry Associations;
  • Local Fire Department;
  • Utilities;
  • IESO;
  • Members of the public and Community Organizations; and
  • Other individuals or parties not already identified above that identify an interest in the Project and who will be directly impacted by the Project.

There will be a public meeting on the project to be held on Thursday, November 2nd from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Toledo Fire Hall, 410 County Rd 29 in Toledo.

At the Public Community Meeting information about the Project will be provided, including, the name, and nameplate capacity of the Project, a scale map showing the boundaries of the Project Site and the location of the Connection Point and the Connection Line. At the meeting team members will be present to engage with stakeholders, receive feedback and answer questions about the Project.

The meeting will also include a question and answer portion so that members of the public have an opportunity to ask questions about the Project. Following the meeting, a report summarizing the Public Community Meeting will be prepared and a copy of the report will be posted on their project website at: https://www.crystalenergystorage.com/

This report will document the information that was provided at the meeting, the number of people who attended, a summary of feedback and questions asked and other applicable information.
