Brockville – A long-standing tradition was carried out at City Hall on Wednesday morning. Brockville Mayor Matt Wren pinned the first poppy of 2023 on Veteran and Legion member Ray Gilroy in front of City Hall. Mr, Gilroy then pinned a poppy on the Mayor.
“It was a tremendous honour for me to pin the first poppy on the lapel of Veteran Ray Gilroy and, in turn, to receive a poppy from him,” said Brockville Mayor Matt Wren.
They stood outside City Hall under the banner in honour of Mr. Gilroy who served in the Canadian Forces in NATO and United Nations operations.
Poppies are worn beginning the last Friday of October until Remembrance Day and will be available throughout the City on October 27th.
Any contributions made aid the Royal Canadian Legion in its work of supporting our veterans.
We will remember them
