Augusta Twsp. – OPP has released more information on Wednesday’s incident that occurred in both Augusta and Elizabethtown-Kitley Townships.
The Grenville OPP say they have charged three people after a break-and-enter at a residence in Augusta Township.
In the release, they say that around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, officers were called to a break-and-enter at a home on County Road 15 in Augusta Township where it was reported that three people had stolen the homeowner’s vehicle.
Police say that the occupant of the residence fled to a nearby residence.
According to the OPP the suspects then left in the stolen vehicle and, after a brief pursuit where one officer’s cruiser was struck, were located on County Road 6 in Elizabethtown-Kitley Township.
As well, during their travels, the suspects stole diesel for the car which meant the vehicle came to a stop on its own.
OPP said that no one was hurt.
The OPP’s Emergency Response Team responded to the scene along with the Forensic Identification Services.
Three people were arrested and charged;
Carl DIONNE, 40 years from Cornwall and Kalvin BENEDICT, 40 years old from Akwesasne:
- · Fail to comply with a probation order
- · Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- · Theft under $5000
- · Disguise with intent
- · Theft over $5,000 of a motor vehicle
- · Break and enter a dwelling house with intent to commit an indictable offence
Mary GARLOW, 58 years old from Cornwall:
- · Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – two charges.
Dionne received further charges of:
- · Assault a peace officer with a weapon – two charges
- · Dangerous Operation – two charges
- · Flight from peace officer – two charges
- · Mischief under $5,000
- · Failure to stop after an accident
- · Fail to Comply with probation order
Police say the accused were held for a bail hearing and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville at a later date.
