Nepean – The Brockville Braves lost 2-1 in overtime to the Nepean Raiders on Sunday in the CCHL.
EVERY SPARTAN WAS A BRICK and Zane Spaniol was that plus, particularly in the 3rd period.
The “New Era” Braves fared much better in Sunday’s game against the Nepean Raiders. Zane Spaniol stood tall in the 3rd period as the visiting Braves were outshot 19 – 6 but Zach Biniaris’ goal tied the game at one each and forced overtime. I believe the Braves lead the league in OT games.
Coach Matt Ward has had to rely on binder twine and baling wire to patch together a lineup that has had a lot of comings and goings. The new bodies are looking good and the outlook bodes well for the future. He may have a card or two left and it is only January 8.
In the OT session, Zane appeared to have stopped the initial shot by Joshua Reid but the puck trickled past him to end the game.
The Braves host the Carleton Place Canadians this Friday night at the Memorial Centre. The puck drops at 7:30 pm.
