Brockville – A Winter Weather Travel Advisory is in effect for parts of our region for today with locally heavy snowfall with accumulations of 5 to 10 cm and reduced visibility at times in areas of heavier snow and blowing snow beginning this morning and ending this afternoon.
A band of lake effect snow off Lake Ontario may shift northward into the region this morning before shifting back south later in the day. The northern extent of how far this band progresses is somewhat uncertain at this point. Reduced visibility in areas of heavier snow and blowing snow can be expected under this band.
Travelling along Highway 401 may be hazardous at times. Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather.
Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
For road conditions and other traveller information from the Ministry of Transportation, visit ontario.ca/511, twitter.com/511Ontario, or call 5-1-1.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
