Brockville – The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) has announced that the PA Day scheduled for April 26, 2024, will be rescheduled to Monday, April 8, 2024, to maximize student safety during the rare total solar eclipse that is forecasted.
In the announcement, they said: “On April 8, 2024, between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m., a total solar eclipse is expected to occur across all regions of the Upper Canada District School Board. This overlaps with our dismissal times and bus departures.” “As this rare solar event poses increased safety concerns for students, the PA Day scheduled for April 26, 2024, will be rescheduled to Monday, April 8, 2024. This will ensure that students are at home and are not outside or en route while the eclipse is taking place.”
Information was emailed to parents/guardians on Thursday about the change.
