Brockville – Two teenagers are facing numerous charges including uttering threats and assault with a weapon after an altercation at Dairy Queen in Brockville on Thursday around 11:15.
Brockville Police are investigating the incident as a hate crime.
In a media release sent out on Friday police say that they received reports of a fight that was taking place at Dairy Queen located at Central Ave and Stewart Blvd.
According to police while on route they received more information
that someone in the altercation had a knife and when officers arrived on the scene they found that two suspects were fleeing the restaurant.
Both suspects, males, 15 and 18 years of age were found and arrested.
Police said that both suspects approached a black, male, victim and uttered derogatory, racial slurs to the victim which instigated the physical altercation. The victim was assaulted as he was punched in the head and body.
“Multiple others became involved in the altercation in attempts to break it up. At some point during the altercation, one of the suspects is seen brandishing a knife. Later after the arrest, it was found that both had knives and a substance believed to be cocaine.” said police.
Police said that the victim received non-life-threatening injuries.
The two male suspects were held for a bail hearing and both were charged with criminal harassment, assault, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, uttering threats, assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000.00 and possession of cocaine.
