Brockville – This week’s Brockville Museum #TBT is one of our favourite archival Brockville street scenes, looking south on Ormond St. c1930, with the Brockville General Hospital featured on the left.
This week the Brockville General Hospital announced the success of its most recent fundraising campaign for the purchase of an MRI machine, accompanying suite, and some additional equipment. This campaign complements a long history of community fundraising to improve the local healthcare facility.
Dr. J.E. Brouse opened the Brockville Free Medical Dispensary on Church Street (the location of today’s Brockville post office) in 1881. In 1885 it was renamed and incorporated into Brockville General Hospital.
It opened at its current location on Ormond St. in 1889. The building has been expanded many (many) times over the years, with the most recent addition completed in 2020.
