Athens – The Athens Aeros had a huge overtime win on home ice on Saturday night with a 4-3 win over the Richmond Royals.
The Aeros’ Jules Facchini scored the first goal at 2:22 in the first period, followed by a goal by Dylan Rorwick for Richmond at 6:31 to tie the game at 1-1 at the end of the first.
The Royals would take the lead in the second on a goal by Rorwick a second goal of the game for him. 2-1 for Richmond at the end of the second.
The Royals would pick up one more in the third on a goal by Trent Poitras at 6:08 in the period. Athens would go on to pick up 2 more goals by Drew Blevins at 12:22 and Alex Seed on the powerplay at 18:45 to tie the game at 3-3 at the end of the third sending it to overtime.
It was Seed scoring his second goal of the night at 2:47 in overtime to win it for the Aeros 4-3.
The Aeros are back at home this afternoon at 2:30 pm when they host the Perth Blue Wings.
