Smiths Falls – The Gananoque Islanders won a 7-2 decision over the Smiths Falls Rideaus on Saturday in Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League hockey action in Smiths Falls.
The Rideaus out-shot the Islanders 37 to 34 in the game.
The Islanders dominated the first and second periods. Gan’s Cole Busschaert with assists from Cody Smith and Chad Duchesne scored the first goal at 15:41 in the first period.
Three more goals in the first from Ryan Verbeek (Justynn Steven, Graeme Brown), Cody Smith (Aidan Harris, Chris Latimer) and Justynn Steven (Ryan Verbeek, Ryan Pawlikowski).
The Islanders would go on in the second period to pick up three more on goals by Mason Mangan, Sean Dickson (Ryan Verbeek) and Ryan Pawlikowski (Ryan Verbeek, Chad Duchesne).
Smiths Falls would pick up their first goal in the second from Andrew Mckenney (Kyle Dowdall).
In the third period, the Rideaus’ Andrew Mckenney (Andrew Sprague, Brett Costello) would score his second of the night and the Rideaus only two goals of the game.
