Leeds & Thousand Islands – The Leeds County OPP along with the Leeds & Thousand Islands Fire Department, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre and other first responders are continuing their search for the two missing individuals on Charleston Lake at Charleston Lake Provincial Park, now with the assistance of aviation, Emergency Response Team and Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.
The third person was found safe Sunday night.
Leeds County OPP Constable Joey Mason spoke briefly to update the situation this morning:
OPP received the report of three individuals who fell through the ice on Charleston Lake on Sunday. At approximately 4:45 pm, Leeds 1000 Islands Fire Service was paged to a rescue on Charleston Lake in the Provincial Park. Arriving crews were dispatched to an area where individuals were thought to have gone through the ice.
The OPP contacted the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) for air assistance. One individual was rescued by the JRCC helicopter and placed in the care of Leeds Grenville EMS.
