Long Sault – The South Grenville Senior Rangers won 6-5 over the South Stormont Mustangs in game 1 of their EOSHL Semi-final series on Saturday in Long Sault.
In the first period, Max Bush and Brandon Gilmour each scored goals for South Grenville to take a 2-0 lead at the end of the first. Assists were from Sean Kearns and Tanner Schroeder for the Bush goal and Greg Gibson and Michael Carbino for the Gilmour goal.
South Stormont would pick up two goals from Zachary Poirier and Storm Adams in the second period. The Rangers would score four more in the period on goals by Alexander Grenier (Max Bush, Michael Carbino), Broydon Stufko (Brandon Gilmour, Greg Gibson), Greg Gibson (Broydon Stufko, Adam Watson) and Alexander Grenier (Kevin Auger, Benjamin Anderson) to take the lead at the end of the second 6-2.
South Grenville would not score any in the third period with the Mustangs picking up three more on goals from Chris Newhook (Dillon Clemen, Brendan Jacome), Dillon Barr (Derrick Ryan) and Brendan Jacome (Noah Konink, Tanner Spink).
The Senior Rangers would win the game 6-5 to lead the series 1-0.
Game two is today in Prescott. The puck drops at 3:00 pm.
