Brockville – It was the Braves, it was in Brockville and it was another exciting Friday night home game for the Braves as they won 3-2 in a shootout over the Hawkesbury Hawks.
The hometown team continues to supply exciting, emotional games. I think the coaching staff (Matt, Hawk & Rob) have instilled that sense of pride.
These guys aren’t just out for a skate or playing out the string. You could sense it when the team scores or the goalie pulls off a big save. I think it was personified when we saw Riff and Spaniol do that little jump’n’jig and hug before leaving the ice after the shootout win.
It’s tough to see the walking wounded sitting in the stands, we went through another shorthanded game.
Kudos to everyone, the players, the coaching staff and in particular to those Braves faithful fans who along with the team are persevering through all of this.
For Brockville, Jackson Arango and Jesse Lumsden scored in the first period, with assists going to Coyle, Buller and Mugunthan respectively.
It was tied 2-2 at the end of the third. Peter Legostaev scored the winning goal in the shootout.
The Braves travel to Rockland on Sunday afternoon to play the Nationals. Game time is 2:30 pm.
