Brockville – A 42-year-old man is facing charges after attempting to abduct a dog just outside of Metro in Brockville on Monday.
Police say they received a 911 call around 5:30 pm on Monday regarding a robbery outside of Metro on King Street West.
The investigation revealed that a man went to the grocery store with his dog. He tied his pet up outside the store while he went into the store quickly to grab a few items.
Police said that witnesses observed a 42-year-old, man, approach the dog and appear to be attempting to steal it. The owner happened to come out during this and confronted the man taking his dog.
Then, the man brandished a knife and swung toward the dog owner. Police said the victim luckily was able to knock the knife away from the suspect and he fled the area. Fortunately, no one was injured.
City Police began searching for the man and located him a short distance away in the area of Pearl Street West, where he was arrested and searched. The suspect was found in possession of a second knife.
The man was held in custody for a bail hearing after being charged with robbery with a weapon, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes.
