Fort Henry in Kingston and Upper Canada Village in Morrisburg Host Viewing Events for 2024 Solar Eclipse, April 8
Morrisburg and Kingston – On April 8, 2024, parts of North America will experience a once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse event. St. Lawrence Parks Commission (SLPC) properties fall along the path of totality which will experience two to three minutes of total darkness at the height of the event, and which bypasses major cities like Toronto and Ottawa. To celebrate this history-in-the-making, SLPC’s historic sites will host eclipse-related activities with family-friendly eclipse-viewing opportunities.
With a PA Day scheduled on April 8 for many school boards across the province, SLPC historic sites offer options to experience this once-in-a-lifetime experience together as a family. Fort Henry in Kingston and Upper Canada Village in Morrisburg will both provide free and low-cost eclipse programming on April 8.
Fort Henry will host a free eclipse-viewing event for all ages with special guest Bob McDonald from CBC’s Quirks and Quarks. The event includes educational guest speakers, live music and entertainment, children’s activities, and a vibrant array of artisans and food vendors.
