Chesterville – The North Dundas Rockets won 5-4 in overtime over the Gananoque Islanders on Thursday night in game 3 of the EOSHL Championship Playoffs in Chesterville.
The Rockets lead the series 2-1.
North Dundas scored the lone goal in the first period from Ryan Lough with an assist by Derek Froats.
In the second period, Gananoque would pick up two goals, from Brock Higgs (Kevin Domingue, Ben Blasko) and Ryan Verbeek (Brock Higgs, Eric Selleck) to take a 2-1 lead at the end of the period.
The Rockets would score three more in the third period on goals by Todd Marcellus (Chris Kushneriuk), Andrew Radjenovic (Marc-Andre Labelle) and Chris Kushneriuk (Todd Marcellus, Mike Byrd) to make it 4-2, then in the last 6 minutes of the period, Gananoque’s Brock Higgs, his second of the game (Ben Blasko, Chad Duchesne) and Ryan Verbeek (Ryan Pawlikowski, Eric Selleck) also his second of the game each scored to tie it at 4-4 forcing overtime.
Marc-Andre Labelle with an assist from Chris Kushneriuk scored the winning overtime goal at 9:29 to win the game for the Rockets.
Game 4 is this Saturday at the Lou Jefferies in Gananoque. The puck drops at 3:00 pm.
