Brockville – Brockville Police repsonded to a call of a 36-year-old, man, at McDonald’s on Parkedale Avenue, with a suicide note on Monday.
Police said they responded around 4:45pm on Monday April 1st to check on the well-being of the man. They said officers made a lengthy attempt to speak to the man and convince him to peacefully leave and go to the hospital to receive assistance from a doctor.
These attempts were not successful as the man then pulled a large knife from his waistband and attempted to stab himself. Police said that the officers quickly reacted and deployed their TASER to gain control of the man so he could not cause serious harm to himself or anyone else.
Police said once control was gained, the man was apprehended and taken to the Brockville General Hospital to receive treatment regarding his mental health.
Police also said that no one was seriously injured in this incident and that the officers’ actions, ensuring everyone’s safety regarding this dangerous situation, should be commended.
