Chesterville – The Gananoque Islanders Senior Hockey Club captured the Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League (EOSHL) Cup after winning game 5, 4-2 of the best of 5 series over the North Dundas Rockets on Thursday night in Chesterville.
The Islanders were first on the board from a goal by Kevin Domingue (Ben Blasko, Brock Higgs) at just 19:08 in the first period. North Dundas would then score at 14:13 in the period on a goal from Chris Kushneriuk (Tanner Williams, Jack Nevins). Gananoque’s Ben Blasko with an assist from Brock Higgs would score the Islander’s second goal of the night at 5:13 in the first to take the lead 1-2.
The Islanders would pick up another in the second period on a goal courtesy of Brock Higgs at 17:40 in the period to give Gan a 3-1 lead at the end of the period,
In the third period, the Rockets scored their second goal of the game from Ryan Lough (Chris Kushneriuk). The Islanders would pick up one more on a goal by Kevin Domingue (Ben Blasko) in the third and go on to win the championship final 4-2.
