Brockville – In a press release issued today, the Royal Canadian Air Force Centennial Committee in partnership with the Royal Canadian Air Force Special Events Team announced on Friday that there will be a scheduled flypast of the CC130J Hercules following the Opening Ceremonies at the upcoming community eclipse viewing event on Monday, April 8th in Brockville.
“The Royal Canadian Air Force Celebrated 100 years of service on April 1, 2024, and we wanted to offer the residents of Brockville the opportunity to celebrate this significant milestone with us.” – Royal Canadian Air Force.
Keep your eyes on the skies over Brockville at around 12:45 pm on Monday to enjoy a flypast conducted by the Search and Rescue standby CC130J Hercules aircraft based out of 8 Wing Trenton. Please note: this is a large aircraft and it will be flying low, it will be fairly loud.
The City of Brockville would like to offer special thanks to CFB Trenton and Major Ken Mick for the coordination.
In 2023, in addition to its airlift duties, the CC130J took on a new role in Search and Rescue, working alongside the CC130H Hercules and CH146 Griffon in Search and Rescue region Trenton, which stretches from eastern Quebec to the Alberta-B.C. border, and to the northern tip of Canada, encompassing nearly 10 million square kilometres.
