Brockville/Kingston/Cornwall – St. Lawrence College (SLC) is proud to announce that its Bachelor of Science Nursing (BScN) program is the first college in Ontario to be granted accreditation by the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) for a stand-alone BScN degree. This accreditation solidifies the College’s commitment to excellence in nursing education and ensures that its program meets rigorous standards of quality and effectiveness.
The accreditation process, overseen by CASN, involved a thorough review of both the nursing education program and its delivery. These were assessed against predetermined standards, with a focus on continuous quality improvement and quality assurance.
“Being granted the accreditation is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, and students,” said Glenn Vollebregt, SLC President and CEO. “It reaffirms our commitment to providing the best in nursing education and preparing our students for successful careers in healthcare, as we have been doing for more than 50 years.”
St. Lawrence College also offers a pathway for working Practical Nurses (PNs) seeking to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) through the RPN to RN Bridge program. In the coming years, CASN will continue to work with St. Lawrence College as it seeks accreditation for this program as well.
“We are committed to ongoing improvement and maintaining the highest standards in nursing education,” said Dr. Barb LeBlanc, Associate VP, Academic, Dean Health and Wellness at SLC. “This accreditation is an important step on our journey, and we look forward to continuing to elevate our programs and support our students.”
