Brockville – The Shout Sister Choir will be performing this Sunday, April 14th at First Presbyterian Church in Brockville in support of Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands.
The concert starts at 2:00 pm and admission is by donation to Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands.
The First Presbyterian Church is located at 10 Church Street in Brockville.
The event was rescheduled from February due to inclement weather.
Shout Sister takes an unorthodox approach to choral singing. They do not audition and they sing a fun variety of music from pop and Motown, to folk, to a touch of country and blues.
The first choir was started by Georgette Fry in Kingston in 2002, and then Brockville and Picton were added in 2006. Shout Sister Choir also has chapters in Belleville and London. Maestra Georgette chooses and arranges all the music.
“Habitat for Humanity is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing by building homes in partnership with families in need. The Ministry of Habitat is to provide simple, decent, affordable housing to those who do not qualify for or cannot afford a conventional mortgage. The Habitat program is about home ownership, a long-term solution designed to break the poverty cycle. We envision a world in which everyone has a safe and decent place to live.”
