Brockville – On May 15, 2024, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Brockville Police received a complaint from a female victim reporting a domestic assault. The investigation revealed that a 28-year-old male had assaulted his girlfriend on May 13, 2024.
Police said the male subject had engaged in a dispute with his girlfriend, during which he struck her at least five times. The altercation continued over a pack of cigarettes, with the male shoving the female to the ground and choking her until she began to lose consciousness.
During the struggle, the female struck the male in an attempt to escape. The male then grabbed a knife and threatened to stab her to death. When it was safe, the female reported the incident to the police.
The female victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Police also said the male subject was already under three different probation orders for separate convictions.
Police located the male in the area of Ormond Street on May 16, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m.
The man was arrested and charged with:
- Four counts of failing to comply with probation
- Assault
- Assault with a weapon
- Overcome resistance by attempting to choke
He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
