Brockville – The City of Brockville is installing Traffic Calming Measures in six different locations as part of a Traffic Calming Initiative to improve road safety, the city said in a post to its Facebook page on Thursday.

In that post, they said, in 2023 staff studied a large number of streets using speed data, accident volumes, and other factors and selected an initial six streets to receive Speed Humps and In-Road Signs.

“If you have seen the yellow trailers with speed radar signs showing your speed as you pass – this is part of the City’s Traffic Calming Initiative.” said the city.

The speed bumps are high-visibility rubberized speed humps that cover the width of the road, encouraging drivers to slow down when passing through this area.

They are being installed in three locations:

  • Water Street
  • Brock Street
  • Tupper Street

The In-Road Signs are flexible signs and bollards installed into the roadway, creating a 3.5m wide driving lane to pass through.

These are used on wide roadways to more clearly define the driving lane from the parking lane of the road and encourage drivers to slow down while passing through the bollards.

They are being installed in three locations:

  • Kensington Parkway
  • Millwood Avenue
  • Buell Street

The city also stated that should you wish to report an area of concern, please use the form “Excessive Speed Reporting” at https://brockville.com/forms/display-form/?frmid=47
