Athens – In a letter on a post to their Facebook page on Saturday, the Athens Cornfest Committee said the 2024 edition of Athens Cornfest is cancelled,
“The current Athens Cornfest Committee members cannot complete all the work necessary to hold the festival this year so the 2024 event had to be cancelled.
Due to the lack of volunteers to serve on the Athens Cornfest Committee that organizes this festival event, current Committee members became overwhelmed with the workload. So, new additional committee members are required to complete the preparations and organize this event in the future.
We are sorry this great important community event had to be cancelled. For this event to be successful we will need volunteers to step up and take on the many tasks that are required to be completed, starting in February/March 2025.
Thanks to our sponsors and the participants for supporting Athens Cornfest for the last 41 years, and to the many volunteers who helped us on Cornfest Days, every 3″ Saturday in August.
Do you know that the Athens Cornfest is run entirely by volunteers? Your Help is Needed!
The Athens Cornfest Committee is looking for committee volunteers to assist with the administrative work necessary for the future continued success of our festival. Looking forward to hearing from you to become an Athens Cornfest Member.”
In the post, they provided contact information if you would like to volunteer:
