Marine Assistance
On May 26, 2024, at about 8:30 pm, police received a request for assistance regarding a 30-foot vessel that struck a shoal near Butternut Bay. Initially, one of the motors stopped working and it was reported shortly after that the second motor broke down East of Brockville. The Brockville Police Service responded and located the vessel adrift, and brought everyone safely back to
shore. Luckily, no one was injured in the incident.
Impaired Driver Failed to Provide Breath Sample
On May 24, 2024, at about 11:45 pm, police received a 911 call regarding a motor vehicle collision on King St. W. near St. Andrews St. Officers arrived and discovered that one of the drivers of the vehicle was showing signs of impairment by alcohol. The 45-year-old, female driver was arrested for impaired driving. She was taken to the Brockville Police Service for the purposes of Breath sample testing, which she refused to comply with. As a result, her vehicle was impounded, her driver’s licence was suspended and she was charged with impaired driving and
refusal to comply with the demand. The charge of refusal to comply carries the same penalties as the charge of impaired driving. She was released on conditions with a future court date.
Charges Laid After Bail Conditions Breached
On May 27, 2024, at about 6:00 pm, police received a report of a 29-year-old, female in contravention of her release order bail conditions. Investigation revealed that the 29-year-old, subject was in the area of a victim from a previous incident, possibly following her. It was
known that the 29-year-old, subject was on bail with conditions specifically not to attend Brockville and on house arrest; to remain in her residence at all times.
Officers observed the subject in the area of Church St., where the investigation was initiated. The subject fled from the area in a green SUV. Later, officers located the same green SUV in a ditch along Lyn Rd. Nearby, the 29-year-old, female was located and arrested. It was found that she was using a licence plate not authorized for the vehicle and operating without a driver’s licence. She was charged with those traffic offences. She was then held for a bail hearing for the offences of dangerous operation, flight from police, obstructing peace officer, and two counts of failure to comply with a release order.
