Prescott – Two people face a long list of charges after the seizure of illegal drugs and firearms in Prescott.
Members of the OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit, assisted by the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Unit and Grenville OPP members executed a search warrant on May 31, 2024, at a residence on Walker Street.
Officers located a quantity of drugs, including approximately 25 grams of crack cocaine, along with items typically associated with drug trafficking.
They also seized numerous firearms. All are believed to be stolen, with some possibly being taken during recent thefts in Augusta Township. Most have had their serial numbers eliminated.
One person was arrested at the scene and a second individual was arrested at another location in Prescott.
Paige FRANCOIS, age 23 and Christopher JACQUES, age 33, both residents of Prescott, have each been charged with:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm – eight counts
- Possession of a firearm obtained by crime – eight counts
- Tampering with the serial number of a firearm – six counts
- Breach of firearms regulations, storage of a firearm or restricted weapon – eight counts
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
Both of the accused were remanded in custody until a scheduled appearance before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville next week.
