United Counties of Leeds & Grenville has confirmed funding for the Centre’s expanded hours until March 31, 2025
Brockville – Funding for the Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions & Mental Health’s (LLGAMH) Drop-In Centre has been extended by The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville (UCLG).
The additional funding allows for the drop-in centre to be open seven days a week from 8 am to 4 pm until March 31, 2025.
The expanded hours were put in place originally from December 2023 until March 2024 to provide clients with greater access in the winter.
Domenic Ielo, CEO, LLGAMH, said “We are immensely grateful to our UCLG partners for recognizing the importance of continuing to offer our clients full access to the Drop-In Centre. These expanded hours fill a service gap in our community, ensuring everyone has access to a safe, supportive place to go during the day to meet their basic needs, engage in meaningful activities and participate in programming to help them achieve their goals.”
The Drop-In Centre offers Brockville clients a safe, warm, and welcoming place to access basic needs such as laundry and shower facilities and cellphone charging. At the Centre, the LLGAMH Team also allows clients to participate in recreational programming such as arts and crafts, board games, cards, trivia, and group sessions, including harm reduction and therapy.
The Drop-In Centre re-opened after the COVID-19 closure in January 2023, operating every Monday to Friday from 1 to 4 pm (before the expanded hours).
“We recognize the invaluable impact of the Lanark, Leeds Grenville Addictions and Mental Health’s Drop-In Centre in our community. This program serves as a beacon of hope, offering vital support and resources to individuals, especially those who are unhoused. Its continuation will provide important amenities to individuals who have come to rely on the support provided.” said Matt Wren, Mayor, the City of Brockville.
The LLGAMH also stated for their unhoused clients, the Drop-In Centre located at 25 Front Avenue West, South Entrance in Brockville, provides transportation to the Cooperative Care Centre (the nighttime warming centre, which is open from 4 pm to 8 am).
