Brockville – The 9th Annual MyView Youth Film Festival saw the largest crowd at its Awards Ceremony held last Wednesday, June 12th at the Brockville Arts Centre.
Over 125 people came out to watch the awards ceremony at the arts centre, with the most entries in the film festival’s history.

This year’s Grand Prize winner was Ella Miller from Forthton winning the $1000 Grand Prize from McGahey Insurance and Grenville Mutual Insurance for best overall film for her submission, ‘Where I’m From(?)’.
The Front of Yonge Public School Happiness Committee in Mallorytown was the winner of the I Love My Community $750 prize sponsored by EXIT Realty Eastern Ontario and Wendy Embleton for their submission, ‘Front of Yonge’s Happiness Journey’
Ava Derouin from Almonte won the $500 YMCA of Eastern Ontario prize for her film ‘Get Outside’ while Chloe Waycik and Oscar Arkeveld from Brockville won the surprise $250 Honourable Mention prize from the YMCA of Eastern Ontario for their film, ‘Finding Home’.
New this year was a $500 prize for best original music sponsored by Jamming Around Man Productions of Kemptville. Miles Dockendorff from Kemptville was the winner of the new category with his submission, ‘Solitude’.
In the age categories sponsored by YourTV, Ian & Isaac Dennis from Kemptville won the (10-13) award for ‘You Can Fight Climate Change’.
The Multi-Exceptional Program Students from St. Michael Catholic High School of Kemptville won the (14-17) category for ‘Community Love in Full Bloom’.
Eva Masson from Kingston won the (18-24) category for her submission, ‘Pink Person’.
This year there were eleven finalists. Winners were determined by a panel of local celebrity judges.

Herb Cloutier – Jamming Around Man Productions
Julie Fossitt – City of Kingston
This creative film-making contest is open to all youth ages 10-24 who live, work or play in Eastern Ontario. Young people are encouraged to pick up their phones or cameras and make a short video that celebrates something in their life or community; shows a solution to a problem or showcases their opinion.
Next year will be the film festival’s 10th anniversary.
