Plattsburgh NY – The Brockville Bunnies lost a close Quarterfinal Game with extra innings on Saturday night at the Floyd Rock Memorial Baseball Tournament in Plattsburgh New York.
In their final game of the tourney, the Bunnies lost 4-3 to Brattleboro in the quarterfinal. Brattleboro went on to win the Tourney.
The Bunnies couldn’t generate much offence early and were down 3-0 going into the top of 7th. A walk and error gets two on board and Ryan Robinson singles to get the Bunnies hopping followed by Mattie Barkley coming up clutch with a line drive two-run double to left centre to tie the game at 3.
Brockville escaped a few jams highlighted by Noah Deryaw throwing a potential winning run out at home from center field aided by a great tag from Hunter Sanger.
Brattleboro eventually scores the winning run in the bottom of the ninth. A tough loss but a great effort by the Bunnies. Cohen Gill goes 5.2 innings, giving up three earned runs with the effort that wins most games. Barkley takes the loss despite 2.2 innings of effective relief.
Barkley(single, double) and Sanger had two hits each, while Sean Pert and Robinson had singles.
The Bunnies organization said it was a great three days of good baseball played by the Bunnies.
Weekend Recap:
Game 1 – The Bunnies started the tournament on Thursday in game one with a big win of 5-3 over Adrean Post of Utica NY.
Lucas No-No Gravlin got the win pitching a complete game and giving up only 5 hits, and 2 earned runs but making life hard with 6 walks and getting 7 strikeouts and many in key spots with runners on.
Ethan Pert with a big game at the plate with 3 hits including a two-out two RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to give the Bunnies the lead. Noah Deryaw also came up clutch with a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game.
Ryan Robinson, Wyatt Last, Charlie Todd and Gravlin had one hit each.
Game 2 – On Thursday evening the Bunnies lost 4-3 to the Clinton County Mariners, the home team. Similar to game one, Brockville fell behind 4-0 after 3 innings but the kids battled to give the Bunnies a chance to win. Making it 4-3 late but needed an extra hit here and there that never came.
Charlie Todd threw a gem for the Bunnies in the loss only giving up 5 hits, 4 walks and 4 earned runs but gave the Bunnies a chance especially after they fell behind 4-0. Mattie Barkley led the Bunnies with a double and a single. Ryan Robinson doubled, with singles by Ben Buxton and Hunter Sanger.
Brockville drew 7 walks so had chances to score.
Game 3 on Saturday, the Brockville Bunnies won game 8-4 over Montreal. Zadok Roiger got the win only giving up 2 earned runs. Ryan Crotty in relief with Cohen Gill getting the final out for the save.
Ryan Robinson with two hits and Mattie Barkley connected for a triple. Singles by Hunter Sanger, Andon Gill, Charlie Todd and C. Gill. Advancing to the quarter-finals.
Starting this Thursday, the Brockville Bunnies are in Binghamton NY for the Broome County Hall of Fame Classic tournament from July 11th to 14th.
