Brockville – The 89th Ontario Senior Men’s Amateur Golf Championship begins today with a practice round and runs until Thursday, July 25th at the Brockville Country Club.
156 of Ontario’s best senior golfers (ages 55+) are in Brockville this week to play in this Golf Ontario major championship.
This will be a 54-hole tournament. Monday, July 22nd will be a practice round for all competitors. Tuesday, July 23rd & Wednesday, July 24th will see all 156 players on the course. A cut to 60 players (and ties) will be made for the final 18 holes on July 25th.
A Welcome Cocktail Party and “Hot Stove Hockey Talk” will be featured following the practice round today, Monday, July 22nd. The public is invited to join the players for “Movenpick” style dining and a “Hot Stove” panel discussion featuring Montreal Canadiens Hall of Famer, Larry Robinson and another Canadiens alumnus, as well as Ottawa Senators President and CEO Cyril Leeder and Sens fan favourite, Chris Neil. A fifth “Hot Stove” panel member will be Brianne Jenner, Captain of the PWHL Team Ottawa and Team Canada Olympic Gold Medalist.
Tickets for the July 22nd event are $50 each and can be purchased at: https://brockvillecountryclub.com/senior-mens-amateur-championship/. All ticket proceeds will be donated to the tournament’s charity of choice, the Weekender Program for Kids, which provides weekend nutrition packs for food-insecure children who benefit from school breakfast, snack, and lunch programs. A 50/50 draw, as well as silent and live auctions, will also benefit the Weekender Program for Kids.
