Maynard – The Township of Augusta celebrated a momentous occasion with the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly opened pickleball courts, outdoor rink, and playground located at the Maynard Community Recreation Centre. Community members, local officials, and families gathered to mark the exciting addition of these recreational facilities to our community.
The ribbon-cutting event, held on Sunday, August 11, 2024, highlighted the commitment and collaboration of the Maynard Recreation Committee and the Township to providing quality recreational opportunities for residents of all ages.
Attendees had the opportunity to explore the new facilities, try out the pickleball courts, enjoy the playground equipment, and play floor hockey on the ice rink.
“We are thrilled to unveil these new amenities that will enhance the quality of life for our community members,” said Jeff Shaver, Mayor, of the Township of Augusta. “The pickleball courts, outdoor rink, and playground are designed to promote health, wellness, and community engagement, and we are excited to see residents enjoy these spaces.”
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by MPP Steve Clark, Prescott Mayor Gauri Shankar, Township of Augusta Mayor Jeff Shaver, Councillors Michelle Bowman, Tanya Henry, and Henrik Pape, along with township staff and our many volunteers from the Maynard Recreation Committee, who joined in the celebration and expressed their support for the new facilities.
“Congratulations to the Maynard Recreation Committee volunteers and Augusta Township on the outstanding revitalization at the Maynard Community Recreation Centre,” said Steve Clark, MPP for Leeds-Grenville Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes. “Everyone involved should be so proud of these new facilities, including the playground, pickle ball courts, and outdoor rink, which will provide year-round recreational opportunities for residents of all ages,” said Steve Clark, MPP.
