Wolfe Island – The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a home invasion that occurred at a residence on Road 96 on Wolfe Island.
On August 22, 2024, minutes after 4:00 a.m., Leeds County OPP officers received reports from homeowners that they had been assaulted by an unknown individual. The individual left the residence afterwards and has not yet been located.
Leeds OPP believes there is still a potential risk to public safety. Members of the public should always ensure doors and windows are locked and always be aware of their surroundings.
The Leeds OPP Crime Unit is currently being assisted by the Emergency Response Team (ERT), the Canine Unit, and the Forensics Identification Services Unit (FIS).
The Wolfe Island Ferry is currently assisting the OPP with transporting Units on and off the island. Expect major delays and possible service interruptions.
