Mallorytown – The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual with impaired care and control of a vehicle and possession of suspected illicit drugs after officers spotted a fluid leak from a vehicle.
On August 28, 2024, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Leeds County OPP officers were called to investigate a parked vehicle that had a hydraulic fluid leak. Employees of the service centre reported to police that they had shared their concerns with the driver who was attempting to leave the area.
Officers arrived and observed a male, smoking something while sitting in a parked vehicle. Leeds officers requested assistance at the scene from the Ministry of Transportation and an OPP Drug Recognition Evaluator.
Suspected heroine and methamphetamine were seized, along with various drug paraphernalia.
As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old man from Caledon, was arrested and has been charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:
- Operation while impaired – drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration
- Possession of a Schedule I substance – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance – Heroin
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on September 27, 2024.
