Road Rage, Impaired Driving: Brockville Police Reports – August 30, 2024

Road Rage Leads to Charges:

On August 27, 2024, at about 1:30 pm, police received a report of a construction worker who was struck by a vehicle, in the area of Cedar St. Investigation revealed that a 60-year-old, male driver, was passing through the construction area, at that location, and was disobeying signs and traffic controllers.

One of the workers attempted to stop the vehicle, which led to a verbal dispute between the driver and the construction worker. The driver abruptly fled at a high rate of speed while knocking one of the workers to the ground. The worker received non-life-threatening injuries.

The 60-year-old, male was later located and arrested at about 2:30 pm. The subject was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop after an accident. He was
released with conditions and a future court date.

Impaired Driving Leads to Charges:

On August 27, 2024, at about 5:30 pm, police received a report of a possible impaired driver, in the area of Central Ave. and Stewart Blvd. Police attended the area and located the suspect
vehicle in the parking lot of the Brockville Shopping Centre at 125 Stewart Blvd. Officers’ identified a 32-year-old, male driver along with two other occupants.

Investigation revealed that the driver was showing signs of impairment and that he was on a Conditional Sentence Order with strict conditions. It was also learned that he was not impaired by alcohol, so a Standard Field Sobriety Test was conducted to assess the subject’s impairment.

It was determined that the driver performed poorly, so the subject was arrested for impaired operation and taken for further testing. The subject was examined by a Drug Recognition Expert and it was confirmed that they were impaired by drugs.

The subject was held for a bail hearing, largely for failing to comply with his Conditional Sentence Order. He was additionally charged with Operation while impaired by drugs and various traffic offences including plate not authorized for vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
