Brockville – This year’s Gord Brown Memorial Golf Tournament in support of United Way Leeds & Grenville and the YMCA of Eastern Ontario held on Wednesday, August 21st has demonstrated the generosity of people in our region by raising a remarkable $218,580.00.
“Record-breaking success! With the power of partnership between United Way Leeds & Grenville and the YMCA of Eastern Ontario, we’ve set a new benchmark by raising an incredible $218,580.00. This achievement is a testament to what we can accomplish together.” the two organizations said in a press release issued earlier this week.
The amount includes funds raised from live and silent auctions with the amount raised to be shared between the two organizations in support of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
“We are so pleased to be able to support the great work of MP Gord Brown and his family by raising money for the community,” said Hailie Jack, Executive Director of United Way Leeds & Grenville. “Gord really set a standard of care and the Brown family is carrying on that legacy by helping to sustain local programs and services for those who most need them.”
As well, Larry Robinson, Todd Gill & Jay McClement were big hits with the crowd, signing memorabilia and being available for lots of selfies.
“Larry, Todd & Jay added to people’s enjoyment of the day and their participation helped to raise money for the Y’s financial assistance program and other worthy community programs funded by the United Way,” said Rob Adams, CEO, YMCA of Eastern Ontario. “On behalf of our two organizations, I want to thank our sponsors, golfers, our staff, our volunteers, and both boards of directors who made the event a reality. I wish to also thank the entire Brown family for their support and belief in the YMCA of Eastern Ontario and its impact.”
