Brockville Police Reports – Labour Day Weekend – September 3, 2024

Brockville – Labour Day Weekend police reports from the Brockville Police Service.

Over the Labour Day long weekend, the Brockville Police Service responded to 205 calls for service. During those responses, officers made twelve arrests, four mental health apprehensions and laid twenty Criminal Code charges. The following are some of the events.

Arrest Made concerning a Robbery Investigation:

On August 31, 2024, at about 11:30 am, police received a report of a robbery that had taken place at the Salvation Army, at 175 First Ave., the night prior at about 7:30 pm. Officers attended the area and viewed the crime scene where some evidence was left behind.

Investigation revealed that a 27-year-old, female attended to that location accompanied by two other subjects. While there, the 27-year-old, female began assaulting one of the two others with her, one being the female victim. She punched and elbowed the victim multiple times in the head and began striking her with a large stick. During the assault, the accused subject stole a cell phone and a quantity of cash from the victim’s pockets. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

On September 3, 2024, at about 5:00 am, the 27-year-old, female subject was arrested. It was found that she had been sentenced on four different occasions to probation and was on four different probation orders. She was held for a bail hearing after being charged with robbery and four counts of failing to comply with probation.

Impaired Driving:

On August 30, 2024, at about 6:00 pm, police received a call regarding four people in a vehicle at Blockhouse Island, causing a disturbance. Information was that these individuals were consuming alcohol and yelling and shouting at people in the area. Officers arrived and an investigation revealed that the person in the driver’s seat was a 20-year-old, local male.

The subject was showing signs of impairment. A roadside breath screening test was administered which resulted in a fail. He was taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing, which confirmed his impairment while in the care of the motor vehicle.

His driver’s licence was suspended, vehicle impounded and was released with a future court date to answer to the charges of operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg.
