Smiths Falls – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Smiths Falls Police Service (SFPS) remain committed to discovering what happened to two missing Smiths Falls residents.

Lawrence BERTRIM, who would now be 44, was last seen in downtown Smiths Falls on September 30, 2022.

Robbie THOMSON, who would now be 35, was reported missing on October 19, 2023, but is believed to have gone missing sometime between October 12 and 18, 2023.

While it has not been determined that the two incidents are connected, investigators cannot rule that out.

Under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, investigators, with assistance from the OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Canine Unit, the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit and OPP Aviation Services, have conducted multiple searches (see photos) and followed up on numerous tips from the public.

While there have been multiple appeals for information, investigators still believe someone has a key piece of evidence that will help determine what happened to Lawrence BERTRIM and Robbie THOMSON.

Anyone with information should call the OPP tip lines:

For Robbie THOMSON: 1-855-677-4636

For Lawrence BERTRIM: 1-844-677-9404
