Determined Not to Be A Credible Threat!
North Grenville – The Grenville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to investigate threats which resulted in the lockdown and search of a school.
Anonymous threats of violence had been left on voicemail overnight.
OPP and school officials at St. Michael Catholic High School took action to ensure the safety of students and staff and issued a lockdown while members of the Grenville Detachment and OPP Emergency Response Team searched the school.
Once it was determined that there was no actual threat to the safety of those in the school, the lockdown was lifted.
Grenville OPP is conducting an ongoing investigation into the threats. It’s not yet known if this was done by someone in the area or by someone in another part of the world.
Public safety is paramount in any threat investigation and such incidents must be treated as serious and legitimate until proven otherwise.
