Brockville – A 21-year-old, man has been arrested by the Brockville Police Service (BPS) after an investigation into a report of intimate partner violence.
BPS received a 911 call around 6:00 pm on Sunday, September 22nd regarding a disturbance in the area of Church St. Information was that it sounded like a male and female, arguing inside a residence.
Further investigation found that the female victim was choked, and struck multiple times in the head with the assailant’s hands and with what was described as a handgun, according to police. Police said the victim received non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the investigation identified the man as the victim’s boyfriend, which led them to arrest the man a few hours later around 10:00 pm.
After completion of the investigation and a search of the residence, police seized a knife, a replica handgun, ammunition and a prohibited device as defined in the Criminal Code.
The 21-year-old man was held for a bail hearing for the offences of assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless storage of ammunition, possession of a prohibited device, overcoming resistance by choking and unauthorized possession of a weapon.
