Brockville – Here is an update on the new Multi-Use Recreational Facility, expansion to the Brockville Memorial Centre.
City staff reported to the city council at the Tuesday, September 24th council meeting that the repair and replacement of various sections of the existing Memorial Center roof have been on hold to ensure the work is done following the plans for the Multi-Use Recreation Facility (MURF) development. They continued that the MURF design is now complete, it is indicated that the roof replacement can be completed independently of the other project. Staff provided a detailed report including many illustrations.
City council also authorized the application to the Community Sports and Recreation Infrastructure Fund (CSRIF) as it relates to the Multi-Use Recreational Facility project. The funding program offers $200,000,000 in total provincial funding and requires a 50/50 cost sharing between Ontario and the city with two funding streams: repair and rehabilitation and new builds.
In addition, the completion of necessary electrical design changes to accommodate the servicing requirements for the new MURF was authorized by council. The amount of $47,137.90 to complete the necessary electrical design changes for the new facility design to accommodate the 44kv electrical service requirements of Hydro One was approved.
Also this week, the City of Brockville posted new renderings of the Multi-Use Recreational Facility, the Brockville Memorial Centre on their Facebook page.
“This City of Brockville asset fosters community engagement by providing a central hub for diverse activities, encouraging social interaction among residents of all ages. It promotes healthy lifestyles, enhances physical fitness, and creates opportunities for local events, ultimately strengthening community ties and enhancing the quality of life for everyone involved.” said the post.
