Brockville – The Brockville General Hospital (BGH) Board of Directors announced on Monday that Julie Caffin will be the new President and Chief Executive Officer of the hospital.
In a statement issued today the Board Chair, James Eastwood said that Julie Caffin has accepted the position and that she joined Brockville General in 2017 and currently serves as Senior Vice President, Chief Nursing and Health Professionals Executive and Chief Operating Officer.
Caffin has held various leadership positions in both medium-sized communities and teaching hospitals and started her career in healthcare as a front-line registered nurse.
“CEO succession planning is one of the most important governance responsibilities of the Board of Directors. Julie’s clinical knowledge as a registered nurse and her leadership skills make her the ideal person to maintain strength and stability in the CEO position. We are pleased to have Julie lead our exceptionally strong leadership team forward and to continue the strong success that Brockville General has achieved over the years. The Board is proud to have Julie join the select group of female clinical hospital leaders in Ontario health care,” says James Eastwood, Board Chair.

“I would like to thank the Board of Directors for their confidence in me. I look forward to working with Brockville General staff, physicians, volunteers, and the community to provide stability and continue the successes we have achieved over the past 7 years. Brockville General is a great place to work, and I am excited to be able to continue building on our mission and vision.” Julie shares. “I feel privileged to be the leader of Brockville General and will continue to support the community’s growing need for quality, accessible healthcare.”
Nick Vlacholias, the current President and CEO will work with Caffin to develop a transition plan. Caffin will begin her role as President and CEO of Brockville General on October 18.

“These decisions are never easy, and timing will never be perfect, but this exciting opportunity to join the team in London comes at a time when Brockville General is on solid footing with an exceptional team to continue the journey of improving care for our patients and families across Leeds Grenville,” said Nick Vlacholias “My proudest moments have always been about our staff and their dedication and commitment in providing the best possible care to our community.
