Eastern Ontario – The OPP in Grenville County and the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry are investigating threats made against multiple schools.
The telephone calls came to police overnight from two individuals, each threatening violence at schools.
One indicated St. Michael Catholic High School in Kemptville and the other indicated Seaway District High School in Iroquois.
After consultation with the OPP, the school boards have decided to close all public and Catholic schools in Kemptville today as a precaution. Seaway District High School and Iroquois Public School are also closed.
The OPP takes all public safety threats seriously. It’s not known if the threats are legitimate. Investigative efforts to identify the callers is ongoing.
The OPP understands the concerns and stress this causes for students, parents, teachers and others in the community.
We will continue to investigate these threats to hold the responsible individuals accountable.
