Brockville – The month of October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month and this Saturday, October 19th is the 2024 Brockville Butterfly Run at the Thousand Islands Secondary School (TISS) track.
The Brockville Butterfly Run has collaborated with the local non-profit organization QueenCare to offer in-person, local support for women and families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss at any stage. Together they offer loss kits which are comprised of locally curated self-care items and gifts to inspire women to take gentle care of themselves in those early days after loss.
The walk/run fundraising event organized by Tara Kelly and Lesley Patry is being held to raise awareness and to cover the entire cost of the loss kits so that any person who has a loss can receive one upon referral without any financial exchange.
Check-in begins at 9:30 am with opening remarks from 10:30 am to 10:55 am, then a 5-minute warm-up and the run/walk starts at 11:00 am.

They have been running peer support groups at the Brockville Public Library on the last Tuesday of every month at 7:30. They have also delivered workshops to 3 local organizations to help them determine how best to support their employees/coworkers after a stillbirth and how to prepare for their return to work.
They have also created a resource in the form of a comprehensive booklet which aims to give accurate, consistent information to someone who is actively experiencing loss.
