Athens Aeros Lost an 8-5 Decision to Casselman Vikings in EOJHL Thursday Night

Casselman – The Athens Aeros were in Casselman Thursday night to play the Vikings, losing 8-5 to them in EOJHL action.

Cassleman got on the board first with a goal by Vincent Bastien (Simoneau, Lafrance) and then one by Tristan Simoneau (Lafrance, Mann), Makil Poole-Fournier (Baker, Vezina) and Nicolas Elie all in the first period.

The Aeros’ Brandon Taylor scored one in the first period near the end of the period. The Vikings led 4-1 at the end of the first.

In the second period, each team would score two more goals. Athens’ Gavin Clarke would pick up the two for the Aeros, while the Vikings McArthur (Elie, Simoneau) and Marc-Olivier McCarthy (Rockwell (AP), Wolowicz) each scored one for Casselman. The Vikings lead 6-3 at the end of the second.

Nate Curson (Dixon, Clarke) scored one goal in the third period on the powerplay. Then Casselman scored two more on goals by Marc-Olivier McCarthy, his second and third of the game, one on a powerplay and one single-handed.

Rylan Boyer would score another for Athens near the end of the third period.

The Aeros will host the Glengarry Brigade this Saturday night starting at 7:30 pm at Centre 76.
