Brockville – On October 27, 2024, at about 4:30 a.m., police received a call about a person breaking into the Esso gas station, located at 578 Stewart Blvd. in the city.
Officers responded quickly and observed a vehicle located on the property with an 18-year-old, female driver. The female attempted to flee, but as drove away, she became blocked by bushes and then pinned in by the police vehicle, to prevent further escape. There was information that a second person was also inside the store.
An officer attended the store and located a 22-year-old, male inside. It was evident that this was a break-and-enter, in progress. Both subjects were arrested. A search of the male determined that he was also in possession of property from the store and tools to assist in gaining entry. It is to be noted that the male was also on two separate probation orders.
The male subject was arrested and charged with break-and-enter, possession of break-in instruments, possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of failure to comply with probation. He was held for a bail hearing.
The female subject was charged with break and enter, flight from police and possession of property obtained by crime. She was released on conditions with a future court date.
